Perspectives publishes peer-reviewed research and scholarly articles that help bridge the gap between research and clinical practice in the discipline. Mills’s work has more than 300 total citations, and she was named one of “1,000 Inspiring Black Scientists in America” in 2020. Mills served as a guest editor for a forum in Language, Speech, and Hearing Services in Schools ( LSHSS) titled “ Serving African American English Speakers in Schools Through Interprofessional Education and Practice.”Įarning her master’s degree in speech and hearing sciences at The Ohio State University in 2004, Mills went on to earn her PhD at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2008. Mills has experience working with a variety of ASHA Journals, serving on the editorial board for the American Journal of Speech-Language Pathology ( AJSLP) from 2017 to 2019 and the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research ( JSLHR) since 2020. ![]() She also serves as the director of the Child Language Ability laboratory, which is currently generating knowledge of the cognitive, linguistic, and social resources that young African American English speakers draw upon to process and produce narrative language. Mills is an associate professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Houston. Mills will begin her term on January 1, 2023, succeeding Brenda Beverly, PhD.ĭr. Garth, who were associated in casework with Cabaniss.Perspectives of the ASHA Special Interest Groups ( Perspectives) is pleased to announce the selection of Monique Mills, PhD, CCC-SLP, BCS-CL, as a new editor-in-chief of the publication. The series concludes with letterbooks that contain a mix of outgoing correspondence, primarily from Cabaniss and Ward, but also from Huntsville attorneys John H. There is a small section of miscellaneous correspondence that could not be assigned to a case file or to an attorney associated with Cabaniss which remains unarranged. Additionally, there is correspondence addressed to and from to a variety of attorneys that Cabaniss was involved in litigation with, including James McClung, Reuben Chapman, and J.W. After the war, correspondence is often addressed to and from his legal partnership, Cabaniss and Ward. The series also includes a smaller portion of incoming and outgoing correspondence of Cabaniss's legal partners before the Civil War, including Hopkins, Parsons, Brickell, and Walker. Cabaniss personal correspondence includes letters to and from Cabaniss and his extended family and friends. ![]() Incoming correspondence often contains multiple letters from the same individual and is thus sorted chronologically as well, after the initial alphabetical arrangement. All incoming correspondence is arranged alphabetically and all outgoing correspondence is arranged chronologically. The series is divided into the following three subseries: Personal, Legal, and S.D. Consists primarily of the incoming and outgoing legal correspondence of S.D. ![]()
