The pricing of this game for everything is around 60 bucks, and no matter how much is beneath the hood of this game, the hood (so to speak) gives a sense of vastly overinflated price. But in this case, what I feel is too bad is that it's a bad choice. It is a money grab-meaning they're a small company trying to maximize the money they make, which, is totally fine. Too bad-I really want to play this, but I hate being locked out of base content like this. If you like something like a dungeon grind and more RAW D&D 5e game then yes you should get it, but if you are looking for character development and story with branching paths then this isn't the game for you. The thing you need to see if you want to play it or no is to see the game play and see if that will make you want to play it. It is not like BG3 where they are going to add all classes & races from the PHB on release. The extra budget they make from the game goes to creating more features and add more classes and races in the SRD 5.1. They don't have the budget to add everything on one go so they aren't going to bite off more than they can chew. You have to realize that this is a small budget start up developer indie game. It would be a money grab if it was a AAA game made from Electronic Arts but it is not. (and it is the same reason there will be more, and more and more.paid DLC) Seems like a money grab. Originally posted by Grumpy Old Dude:IMHO? Yes there is.and that reason is. In short the DLC just flat out doesn't fit into the campaign world. So in order to even have that DLC they'd have to twist an enormous amount of Lore.Įrgo why it was never a part of the original release and rather an optional one for people who actually wanted it. which they didn't.īarbarian is the only thing that MIGHT have existed, but given how civilized Solasta was by the Elves and that they'd conquered everything already they would have had to developed out of the cataclysm, not prior. Which couldn't happen because it would mean Humans brought the Orcs with them. But the idea behind a half orc would be that Orcs are a genetic offshoot of Humans capable of interbreeding. They don't say much about Orcs or how long they've been around. That's why the Classes are the way they are. The only "Druid-like" thing in the Imperial side was the Green Mage which is an Arcane Caster not a Divine caster like Druid. Which is why the Clerical Domains have the Nature domains rather than an actual Druid. Those gods were clerical in nature, not druidic. In the Solasta Campaign there WAS NO Divine magic until the Humans came over from their world bringing their Gods with them. Well if they tell you it's not a part of the campaign, and you beg for it anyway and so they put resources into making it just for the people who wanted it anyway, It isn't about "fleecing people" its about giving you what you wanted even though it shouldn't have even been in there in the first place.Īnd if that's the case, then you're the one that's going to pay for it, not them. The only reason its in there now is because people begged for it. It was never a part of the Solasta Campaign Lore. No the bottom line is, it wasn't supposed to even be in there. Multitudes of paid DLC, ala Paradox games, is NOT the right way to proceed. But $10 for a couple of races/classes? The $$:value ratio aint there. I, and I am sure the vast majority of others, would have no qualms with paying $19.99 for an EXPANSION with additional campaign content AND new races/classes. IIRC, CoM was a $39.99 game at launch with a 20-25% discount. Ala LOD for Diablo II, or the BG expansions etc. Originally posted by Grumpy Old Dude:The "right" way to have added classes/races etc, would have been along with additional campaign and as an expansion.
